By the time your kids are 18, they should not need you anymore (but still want to spend time with you). Everything you are currently doing for your kids that they can do for themselves is working against that objective.
Routines
Hand housework over to the kids by setting up routines and getting them in the routine of taking their nightly tally. Pay them weekly for their completed work. Give them a chance to feel proud of their earnings.
Councils
Coach your kids in the same weekly personal council where you pay them for completed housework. Praise their efforts, listen to their thoughts, train them with their responsibilities, and coach them on their missions.
Missions
A life of meaning requires the completion of missions. Continually raise the bar of what you’re each capable of. Browse the missions catalog and follow the YouTube channel for inspiration.

The Nightly Tally — seconds
Nightly, every member: tally routine completion and mission progress, and drop in anything worth discussing at the next family council.

Run one family with your spouse instead of two overlapping households: review the week, plan each kid’s council, set the family council agenda.

Personal Councils — ~5 min each
One on one with each kid: chores get paid, missions get discussed, next week gets inspired.

The whole patrol: camaraderie first, review the family’s progress, align on the coming week’s missions. Kids bring items, and items get decided.

Who’s behind this
I’m Jordan. I have four kids, and I built this system for them.
While working at the Linux Foundation for three years, I had a front row seat inside one of the biggest institutional drivers of innovation in Artificial Intelligence. It made me acutely aware of how little in today’s childhood prepares kids for their future of AI and robotics.
I’ve been closing that gap for my own kids (and having the time of my life 😄). Now I’m offering it to anyone.
