Terms of Service

The short version

Patrol Family gives your family ideas and a rhythm for doing things together. You decide what your family actually does. We don't supervise anyone, we're not there, and we don't know your children — you do. Missions are suggestions, not instructions, and some of them involve real physical activity that carries real risk.

Read section 4. It's the one that matters.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and Jordan Clive, operating Patrol Family ("we," "us"). They cover patrolfamily.com, app.patrolfamily.com, and the Patrol Family app.

By creating an account or using Patrol Family, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how long we keep it. It's part of these terms.

2. Who can use Patrol Family

You must be 18 or older and a parent or legal guardian to create an account. Children do not create accounts. A parent sets up the family, enters each family member, and decides whether a child gets their own sign-in.

Patrol Family is currently invitation-only. There is no public sign-up. If you were invited into a pilot cohort, these terms apply to you the same as anyone else.

You're responsible for what happens under your account, including what the people in your family do with it. Keep your password to yourself.

3. What Patrol Family is, and what it isn't

Patrol Family is a catalog of ideas and a set of routines. It suggests things a family might do, gives you a way to track what you've done, and provides a written Playbook describing a way of running family life.

It is not:

• instruction, training, certification, or supervision
• medical, psychological, legal, financial, or educational advice
• a substitute for qualified instruction in any activity that requires it
• a guarantee of any outcome for your family or your children

We describe activities. We do not teach them, assess your readiness for them, or verify that anyone is qualified to do them.

4. ⚠️ Physical activity, risk, and your judgment

This is the section to read twice.

Many Patrol Family missions involve physical activity. Some involve significant risk — hiking, backpacking, camping, climbing, swimming and open water, cycling, travel, tools, fire, cooking, and in some cases archery or firearms where a family chooses to enable them. These activities can result in serious injury or death.

You decide. Only you know your children, their abilities, their health, your equipment, your local conditions, and your own competence. Age indications and stage labels in Patrol Family are general guidance about developmental fit, not safety clearances. A mission appearing in the app for a given stage does not mean it is safe for your child.

Before any mission that carries physical risk, it's on you to:

• decide whether it's appropriate for the specific child
• get qualified instruction where an activity requires it
• follow all applicable laws, permits, regulations, and land-manager rules
• provide proper equipment and supervision
• check conditions, weather, and your family's fitness on the day
• stop when stopping is the right call

Certain categories require you to turn them on deliberately, and turning them on is your affirmative decision that your family is prepared for them.

We are not present, we do not supervise, and we cannot assess risk for you. You take responsibility for what your family does.

5. Money in Patrol Family

Patrol Family lets you record chore payments and what your children earn. We do not process, hold, transfer, or handle any money. Nothing in the app is a payment system, a bank account, or a financial product. What you actually pay your children happens between you and them, entirely outside Patrol Family.

Nothing in Patrol Family is financial or investment advice.

6. What it costs

Patrol Family is currently free, including for pilot families. If we introduce paid features, we'll tell you before anything costs money, and you'll never be charged without agreeing first.

7. Your content, and what we may do with it

What you and your family put into Patrol Family stays yours — your notes, your records, your mission history, your family's information.

You give us permission to store and display that content for the purpose of operating Patrol Family for you. That's the whole of it. We don't use it to advertise, we don't sell it, and we don't share it with other families.

If you send us something for us to publish — a photo, a quote, a story, a video, feedback we might use publicly — you're giving us permission to use it, and you can withdraw that permission by emailing us. We will not publish anything identifying your family unless you send it to us for that purpose or tell us in writing that we may.

Nothing involving your children gets published without your explicit, specific, written permission for that specific use. Blanket consent is not something we'll ask for and not something we'll rely on.

8. How you may not use Patrol Family

Don't use Patrol Family to harm anyone, break the law, or interfere with the service. Specifically: no attempting to access other families' data, no automated scraping, no reselling or redistributing the catalog or the Playbook, no reverse engineering, no uploading malicious code, and nothing abusive, harassing, or unlawful.

We may suspend or close an account that does these things.

9. Our content

The Patrol Family catalog, Playbook, capability frameworks, written material, brand, and design are ours and are protected by copyright and trademark. You may use them with your own family. You may not republish, redistribute, or resell them, or use them to build a competing product.

Some material references or links to third-party organizations, programs and resources. Those aren't ours, we don't control them, and their rules and terms are their own. Any credential, badge, or requirement administered by another organization is governed entirely by that organization.

10. Ending it

You can stop at any time. Close your account in the app or email us. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data and when it's deleted.

We can suspend or end access if these terms are broken, or if we discontinue the service. If we shut Patrol Family down, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your family's record.

11. No warranties

Patrol Family is provided "as is." We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available. We don't warrant that any content is accurate, complete, or suitable for your family — and to the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of Patrol Family.

Some limitations don't apply to everyone. Many states do not permit a parent to waive a child's own legal claims, and nothing in these terms attempts to waive any right that cannot lawfully be waived. Where a limitation isn't enforceable, it doesn't apply to you.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms materially, we'll post the update here, change the date, and — for changes that affect you meaningfully — tell you directly. Continuing to use Patrol Family after that means you accept the change.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
